The heat is on.

Hit the 90 degree mark today. Couldn't take it anymore. Moved my computer to the basement. It's like free air conditioning.

As for the novel, I hit a bump creatively with chapter 4. There's quite a bit of exposition in there, and it is needed. But I don't want it to be some bland information dump. Good news is that I can leave chapter 4 behind for now and go on with chapter 5.

Marketing blues.

This isn't something I'm very good at. Spent most of the day sending out press releases and trying to find ways to get the word out about my novel on Kickstarter without resorting to spam and other unsavory tactics.

I'd rather be writing, but marketing is something that I need to do and get better at.

Novel update 05/22/2012

Chapter 2 will be totally rewritten. It took on a very dark tone and I didn't like it. Not that I'm adverse to darker themed fiction, but I didn't think that it fit quite well.

I have things detailed and outlined up to chapter 5. More than likely, this will be about 10 chapters long and will be a short novel. This is my first time out and I don't feel confident in doing a 100k word magnum opus my first time at bat.

A new character is introduced in chapter 3 and she also returns in chapter 5. Don't want to give too much away. Her name is Elmyra and let's just say that by chapter 5, Madison will view her quite differently than their initial encounter in chapter 3.

Almost Live on Kickstarter

Got my approval on the technical side of things regarding tax forms, ID verification, and all that stuff. Just hammering out the finer details for the project before I submit it all for review.

The preview for my novel is live. Look on the right for the link. The preview has the prologue and the first chapter.

One of the kickstarter awards I have planned is a limited edition, signed paperback which contains some concept art for the major characters. A friend of mine, who is an excellent artist, has agreed to do the artwork.
